Partner Engineer

About the role

As a Partner Engineer you will act as both a hands‑on builder and a strategic advisor for Check's payroll platform partners. You will write production code, design integrations, and lead the company’s AI adoption across products and partner‑facing tools.

Key responsibilities

• Bridge sales and partner engineering teams to ensure smooth technical handoffs and accelerate integrations.
• Write and ship production code, debug complex issues, and prototype AI‑powered features.
• Architect scalable integration patterns and provide implementation plans with time‑to‑market estimates.
• Serve as post‑sales technical advisor, maintaining relationships with engineers to C‑suite executives.
• Lead company‑wide AI strategy, evaluate emerging frameworks, and build high‑impact AI initiatives.

Required profile

• 2+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience, preferably in a FinTech or SaaS environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Entrepreneurial problem‑solving mindset and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and attend the annual company offsite.

Required skills

• Experience building with AI, including LLMs or AI agents.
• Proficiency designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Production‑grade software development and debugging.
• Hands‑on experience with API‑centric architectures.
