Part-Time Registered Nurse – Columbus, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to work at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital in Columbus. This part‑time position offers flexible scheduling while delivering essential nursing care to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed client records and reports.
• Provide education to clients and their families.
• Administer prescribed medications and initiate intravenous fluids, documenting times and amounts.
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, ensuring adequate stock.
• Prepare clients for examinations and treatments and assist during procedures.
• Observe nursing staff and visit clients to ensure proper nursing care is delivered.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in client conditions.
• Oversee all aspects of client care, including diet and physical activity.
• Modify client treatment plans based on responses and conditions.
• Provide health care, first aid, immunizations, and support during convalescence and rehabilitation.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the State of Georgia.
• Completion of required evaluations and vaccinations (drug screening, TB test, annual influenza).
• Ability to pass state and national background checks.
• Compliance with any additional licensure or certification requirements specific to the department.
