Part-Time Health Care Worker – Columbus, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a part‑time Health Care Worker to support clients at the West Central Georgia Regional Hospital in Columbus. This hourly position involves providing direct personal care, monitoring health indicators, and assisting with daily activities for patients with physical or developmental disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Answer client call signals and respond to their needs promptly.
• Assist with medication administration, take vital signs, and perform blood draws or other fluid collections as directed.
• Provide personal care such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding clients who cannot feed themselves.
• Conduct recreational and social activities to promote client well‑being.
• Observe, document, and report patient data, behavior, and activity.
• Transport or accompany clients to treatment areas using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Turn and reposition bedridden clients to prevent pressure sores.
• Support sub‑professional occupational or physical therapy services for disabled patients.

Required profile

• Current professional licensure or certification appropriate for health‑care work in Georgia.
• Completion of required health evaluations such as drug screening, TB test, and annual influenza vaccination (exemptions may apply).
• Pass a state and national background check as a condition of employment.
• Ability to meet any additional agency‑specific vaccination or health requirements.

What we offer

• Hourly compensation ranging from $20.00 to $22.00 based on experience and education.
