Parking Attendant – Georgia Building Authority

About the role

Under general supervision, the Parking Attendant monitors and enforces the rules and regulations of the Georgia Building Authority at state parking facilities, safeguarding employees, property and vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Issue and explain parking citations, provide directions and request license‑plate checks.
• Patrol parking areas to detect unauthorized vehicles, fires, leaks and other safety hazards.
• Assist customers with debit/credit card payments and service vehicles with gas, diesel or CNG.
• Communicate with the public courteously and resolve parking complaints on the spot.
• Identify hazardous situations, report suspicious activity and call Capitol Police when needed.
• Operate mobile radio equipment, write tickets and ensure all personnel entering the complex are properly identified.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least one year of cash‑handling experience.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and ability to be an authorized driver.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and rotating shifts with prolonged walking, standing and sitting.

Required skills

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills with diverse individuals.
• Capability to identify building repair needs and safety hazards.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry heavy items.
