About the role
We are looking for an Outfit Build Engineer to join Saronic Technologies and support the design, outfitting, and integration of autonomous surface vessels. The role combines remote collaboration with our Austin engineering team and hands‑on oversight of equipment installation, system integration, and issue resolution at the shipyard.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in design, analysis, and installation of outfit systems for ASVs, including HVAC, piping, deck equipment, interior structures and mission systems.
- Create and modify 2D/3D CAD models, perform fit‑checks, clearance verification and functional testing.
- Act as liaison between engineering, drafting and production teams to resolve technical challenges during construction.
- Identify non‑conformances, lead root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions through Issue Review Boards.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders, ensuring traceability, communication, implementation and verification.
- Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems and participate in design reviews.
- Prepare and maintain technical drawings, specifications, test procedures and as‑built records for internal and regulatory use.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering or a related field.
- Experience working in a shipyard environment with outfit trades such as piping, HVAC, joiner work and deck equipment.
- Familiarity with maritime standards including ABS outfit requirements, HVAC standards, ASME B31 piping codes and US Coast Guard regulations.
Required skills
- SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, NX (2D/3D CAD software).
- Interpretation of outfit drawings, isometric piping diagrams and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of ASME B31 piping codes and ABS outfit requirements.
- Understanding of HVAC standards and US Coast Guard regulations.
