Optician – Patient Care & Eyewear Specialist

About the role

This position assists patients in selecting, fitting, measuring, adjusting, and repairing eyewear. The optician also demonstrates proper techniques for inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses while providing comprehensive patient education on available options.

Key responsibilities

• Assist customers with eyeglass and contact lens orders, including measurements and prescription verification.
• Perform repairs, adjustments, and basic maintenance on eyewear.
• Document patient and order information accurately.
• File vision material claims electronically through web portals such as EyeMed, Spectera, and Davis Vision.
• Fit, insert, and remove contact lenses for patients.
• Maintain excellent customer service and adapt communication to diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related optical experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to satellite locations as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers and web‑based applications.
• Electronic filing of vision claims via portals (EyeMed, Spectera, Davis Vision).
• Contact lens fitting, insertion, and removal.
• Eyewear repair, adjustment and basic maintenance.
