Operations Manager – Utilities

About the role

The Operations Manager – Utilities leads LSU’s campus‑wide plumbing and utility systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and code‑compliant operation of water, drainage, gas, and related infrastructure. The role oversees daily operations, preventive maintenance, emergency response, and large‑scale infrastructure projects while coordinating with Facilities Operations, Engineering, EHS, contractors, and campus stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage plumbing and utility service contracts, including scope development, procurement support, contractor coordination, performance monitoring, renewals, and compliance.
• Review and approve contractor invoices, utility charges, purchase orders, and expenditures to ensure accuracy and alignment with budgets.
• Provide operational and technical support for utility projects, assisting with scope, cost estimates, scheduling, field verification, and project close‑out.
• Monitor contractor performance, work quality, safety, and schedules; address deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, project prioritization, and resource planning for maintenance and capital improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of contracts, invoices, project costs, work orders, inspections, and generate status reports for leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of related experience (5 years preferred).
• Valid driver’s license; subject to motor vehicle record check and drug screening.
• Ability to work in an emergency‑essential capacity and meet safety‑sensitive position requirements.
