Operating Room Registered Nurse – Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital

About the role

The Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH) at UAMS Health seeks a passionate Operating Room Registered Nurse to join a team dedicated to high‑quality, patient‑centered surgical care. You will work across the peri‑operative continuum, ensuring safety, sterility, and excellent outcomes for orthopaedic and spine patients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, verify surgical sites, and prepare the operating room while maintaining sterile technique.
• Monitor patients continuously during surgery, act as an advocate, and respond promptly to changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, technologists, and peri‑operative staff to coordinate care before, during, and after procedures.
• Document intra‑operative care, manage surgical instruments, and adhere to infection‑prevention protocols.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and educate patients/families on surgical procedures and postoperative care.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Diploma, or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Registered Nursing license and minimum of 1 year RN experience.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong communication skills.
• Preferred: Current BLS and ACLS certifications, scrubbing experience, orthopedic surgery experience.
