About the role

The Department of State Hospitals in Napa is seeking a qualified Nurse Instructor to train and mentor staff who provide care to California's most vulnerable population with severe mental illness. This full‑time, on‑site position involves delivering high‑quality clinical education and ensuring compliance with state nursing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver instructional programs for nursing and support staff.
• Assess employee performance and provide feedback to improve patient care.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of California Board of Registered Nurses regulations.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate best practices into treatment protocols.
• Prepare documentation, including licensure verification and educational transcripts.

Required profile

• Active RN license in California as issued by the California Board of Registered Nurses.
• Completion of the Nurse Instructor eligibility examination.
• Relevant nursing degree and transcripts meeting CalHR minimum qualifications.
• Experience in mental health or psychiatric nursing preferred.

Required skills
