NPI Instructor – AGS Training Service (Etch)

About the role

This position is a Santa Clara‑based New Product (NPI) Instructor within Applied Materials' AGS Training Service. The role combines technical instruction with deep product expertise, covering new etch chambers, mainframes and tools. You will learn the latest PLC/NPI products, support startup and sustain production, and develop and deliver classroom and hands‑on training.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct training needs assessments, gather workflow information, and maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge for course delivery.
• Collaborate with product groups to obtain current specifications, manage multiple training projects, and represent AGS Training Services at meetings and conferences.
• Develop and update course materials, create hardware training guides, and ensure safety retrofits are installed on training systems.
• Deliver technical training both on‑site and at customer locations, manage classroom and lab activities, and certify trainees.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior instructors, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, education or training (or 6 years semiconductor equipment experience without a degree).
• Minimum 4 years of professional semiconductor equipment experience in installation, programming, safety, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting and repair.
• At least 2 years of formal or informal training, performance‑based instruction, or presentation delivery to external customers.
• Preferred: nationally recognized Instructional Design certification or equivalent curriculum development experience.

Required skills

• Semiconductor equipment installation, programming, safety, preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with robots, programmable controllers, power supplies, pneumatics, vacuum systems, power distributions, high‑voltage and high‑current systems.
• DDP chamber experience and PLC/NPI product knowledge.
• Use of measurement and testing tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, volt meters, soldering irons, hand and power tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Word for desktop publishing.
