Night Shift Outside/On‑Site Machinist

About the role

Collins Machine Works is seeking experienced Outside/On‑Site Machinists to work the night shift (3:00 pm‑11:00 pm) at our Portsmouth facilities or at customer sites across the U.S. and abroad. The role involves setting up and operating manually controlled machines to repair equipment, vessels, and mechanical structures.

Key responsibilities

• Transport, set up, and operate portable milling machines, clamshell lathes, line boring systems, grinding machines and hydraulic tensioning systems.
• Measure machined features with precision measuring equipment and record results in JobBOSS.
• Perform mechanical assembly/disassembly, read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Communicate with customers and government representatives to coordinate onsite work.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and complete inspection reports.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with access to DoD facilities (no visa sponsorship).
• High school diploma or GED; 3‑5 years related machining experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently, lift up to 50 lb, and stand for long periods.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
