Network Support Technician (Hourly)

About the role

University of Arkansas is seeking a Network Support Technician to assist the campus network engineering team. The technician will handle service and incident tickets, support network projects, and respond to building network outages. The role includes on‑campus shifts and provides on‑the‑job training for specific processes and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Process and resolve network support tickets.
• Proactively monitor wired and wireless network systems and services.
• Respond to network incidents according to standard operating procedures.
• Perform planned maintenance and upgrades of network equipment.
• Coordinate with other IT services personnel and escalate issues to network engineers.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry‑level network skill or vendor certification (e.g., JNCIA, CCENT, Network+).
• Previous experience in an IT support role such as help‑desk or desktop support.
• Fundamental knowledge of data networking concepts and network operating systems.

Required skills

• Network troubleshooting.
• Switch configuration and activation of new network ports.
• Wired and wireless network monitoring.
• Device onboarding to the campus network.
• Vendor certifications: JNCIA, CCENT, Network+.
