Network Support Technician (Hourly)

About the role

The University of Arkansas is seeking an hourly Network Support Technician to join its IT Services team. The role supports the campus data network, works on service and incident tickets, and assists with network projects and outage response. This on‑site position offers hands‑on experience with wired and wireless networking in a university environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process and resolve network support tickets.
• Proactively monitor wired and wireless network systems and services.
• Respond to network incidents according to standard operating procedures.
• Perform planned maintenance and upgrades of network equipment.
• Coordinate with other IT personnel on incident response and escalation to network engineers.

Required profile

• High‑aptitude individual with a passion for information technology.
• Excellent time‑management and reliable attendance.
• Minimum education: high school diploma.
• Entry‑level network skill or vendor certification (e.g., JNCIA, CCENT, Network+).
• Previous IT support experience preferred.
• Fundamental knowledge of data‑networking concepts and network operating systems.

Required skills

• JNCIA certification (or equivalent).
• CCENT certification (or equivalent).
• Network+ certification (or equivalent).
• Network switch configuration and troubleshooting.
• Wired and wireless network monitoring.
