Network Engineer – Global Office Networks

About the role

We are looking for a Network Engineer to own the reliability, security, and evolution of Cognition’s global office networks. The role is fully onsite in San Francisco and involves building scalable wired, wireless, and cloud‑connected networks for a fast‑growing AI lab.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and operate high‑performance wired and wireless networks across offices, branches and campus environments, including RF optimization and resilient architectures.
• Manage network delivery for office expansions, moves and new sites, handling procurement, circuit turn‑up, vendor coordination and cut‑over.
• Create repeatable reference architectures, configuration standards, capacity models, inventories, diagrams, runbooks and deployment playbooks for a growing global footprint.
• Implement network observability and automation using telemetry, analytics, scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code to detect and remediate issues before they impact users.
• Secure network access with identity‑aware policies, segmentation and technologies such as IPsec, GRE, SD‑WAN and VPC peering.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating networks in a hyper‑growth startup or similarly fast‑changing environment.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to work across internal teams, carriers and external partners.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a builder attitude toward automation and observability.

Required skills

• VLAN, LACP, OSPF, BGP, VRF, QoS, IPsec, GRE, SD‑WAN, VPC peering, transit networking.
• Scripting or programming in Python, Go or TypeScript.
• Network monitoring, telemetry, automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD, APIs, source control.
