Nephrology Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (Full‑Time)

About the role

This full‑time position provides primary and urgent medical management for outpatient nephrology patients in a collaborative environment that includes residents, fellows, attendings and staff. The role operates under the supervision of the Medical Director and works closely with primary care clinicians, nurses and discharge coordinators.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using approved medical practice processes, addressing physical, psychosocial and educational needs.
• Educate patients, families, staff and the community on kidney disease management and related health topics.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, accreditation standards and department policies.
• Participate in teaching residents and medical students, and support staff development.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in nursing (for NP) OR Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or graduate of an approved PA program.
• Current state license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or as a Physician Assistant, with NCCPA certification for PA.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; PALS certification for PA candidates.
• Eligibility for prescriptive authority as defined by the state board of nursing or medical examiners.

Required skills

• Proficient computer data‑entry skills and ability to retrieve patient information efficiently.
• Experience using Windows‑style applications and related software packages.
