National Director, Development Communications

About the role

National Jewish Health is seeking a senior leader to head its Development Communications team. The role will shape national communication strategies that support fundraising, research, and patient care initiatives across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement national communication plans aligned with the Development department’s strategic goals.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of staff writers and content creators.
• Oversee creation of donor proposals, disease-specific reports, grant applications, and executive communications.
• Produce collateral such as letters, speeches, newsletters, event scripts, and social-media content.
• Ensure all Development communications reflect the institution’s brand standards and collaborate with Public Affairs and Marketing.
• Monitor staff safety, regulatory compliance, and performance metrics.

Required profile

• Proven experience directing communications or marketing teams in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to craft content for diverse audiences, including donors, researchers, and the public.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in recruiting, training, and evaluating staff.
• Strategic thinker capable of aligning communication initiatives with fundraising objectives.
