Mission Software Engineer (San Diego)

About the role

As a Mission Software Engineer at HavocAI you will develop, deploy, and own software that powers autonomous systems in operational environments, working directly with customers in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end software solutions delivered to customers, ensuring they meet mission objectives.
• Develop new capabilities and improve existing HavocAI products for specific operational needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics) to design, build, and test complex functionality.
• Create and use performance metrics for debugging and monitoring deployed systems.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, propose fixes and coordinate remediation.
• Work closely with end‑users to translate requirements into features while balancing technical constraints.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related).
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience with C++, Python or Rust in a Linux development environment.
• Experience building software that processes and analyses large data sets.
• Ability to quickly understand complex systems and large codebases.
• Passion for mission‑critical software with real‑world impact.
• United States citizenship and eligibility for US security clearance.
