Metallurgical Lab Technician

About the role

A Metallurgical Lab Technician will oversee the metal and sand testing required for process control in the foundry. This position works the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Test iron samples for chemistry control and report out‑of‑range results.
• Analyze microstructure of samples and alert production when conditions are outside specifications.
• Test sand for properties, perform core sand tests, and monitor results for process control.
• Conduct strength tests on sample pieces and communicate findings.
• Maintain lab equipment in good working order.
• Interact with production personnel, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance, Machine Shop, Human Resources, and Accounting as needed.
• Perform tasks assigned by the Metallurgist.
• Maintain a clean workplace and adhere to safety and PPE requirements.
• Provide additional support to production and management as required.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• PC/Systems knowledge and skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities to work with all employee levels and external partners.
