Mentor Guide for High School Youth Program

About the role

Join DREAM’s Guided Mentoring program as a Mentor Guide, supporting high‑school mentors who work with elementary‑aged youth. You will help plan and deliver play‑based lessons, facilitate weekly sessions, and support mentors in building strong, developmentally appropriate relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Engage and support 5‑10 high‑school mentors through curriculum delivery and reflection.
• Plan and facilitate classroom and after‑school activities that promote dreaming big, identity, sense of place, and purpose.
• Communicate weekly with mentors and coordinate with school partners and regional managers.
• Assist with summer, weekend, and out‑of‑school events, including transportation logistics.
• Help mentors develop organizational and time‑management skills.

Required profile

• Commitment to the full service term and to the AmeriCorps mission.
• Passion for inclusive youth development and serving as a role model.
• Reliable internet, phone, and a dedicated workspace for remote tasks.
• Ability to travel to assigned school sites and transport students when needed.
• US citizenship, national, or lawful permanent resident status, age 17 +.
• Preferred: valid driver’s license, college degree, and experience facilitating youth groups.

What we offer

• Bi‑weekly living stipend ranging from $294 to a maximum of $5,000 for 6‑12 hours/week.
• Segal Education Award of $1,565.08 upon successful completion of the term.
• Eligibility for SNAP, childcare assistance, Medicaid, student‑loan forbearance, and other public benefits based on income.
• Support from a DREAM AmeriCorps Director and mileage reimbursement for work‑related travel.
