About the role
Mentor Coordinators support the DREAM program by assisting Youth Service Managers with training, recruitment, and supervision of volunteer mentors from college campuses. The primary focus is to help deliver the Village Mentoring model, providing holistic support for mentees.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure volunteer mentors understand the Village Mentoring model, their roles, and responsibilities.
- Communicate with the Regional Director to assess mentee needs and foster partnerships between community, support staff, and mentors.
- Provide mentors with resources and training to deliver high‑quality mentoring experiences.
- Build relationships with every volunteer mentor and mentee in the supported chapter.
- Maintain a 1:1 mentor‑to‑mentee ratio, oversee recruitment, mentor graduation preparation, compliance of youth documents, and background checks.
- Attend weekly Village Mentoring program sessions and weekly support meetings.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (AmeriCorps requirement).
- At least 17 years old at start of service (or 16 if out‑of‑school youth).
- Pass required criminal history checks (NSOPW, state repository, FBI fingerprint).
- Commit to the full service term (Oct 12 2026 – May 9 2027) and to DREAM’s mission.
- Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience serving diverse communities.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and travel to college campuses as needed.
