Mentor Coordinator (AmeriCorps)

About the role

The Mentor Coordinator supports Dream’s Village Mentoring program by training, recruiting, and guiding volunteer mentors from college campuses. This AmeriCorps position works closely with Youth Service Managers to ensure high‑quality, culturally responsive mentoring for youth in marginalized communities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure volunteer mentors understand the Village Mentoring model, their roles, and responsibilities.
• Coordinate with the Youth Services Manager to assess mentee needs and facilitate communication between mentors, staff, and community partners.
• Provide mentors with resources, training, and ongoing support to deliver a high‑quality mentoring experience.
• Maintain a 1:1 mentor‑to‑mentee ratio, oversee recruitment, background checks, and compliance documentation.
• Attend weekly Village Mentoring sessions, weekly support meetings, and regular mentor communications.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident; at least 17 years old (or 16 if out‑of‑school youth).
• Commitment to the full service term and to Dream’s mission of reducing the Opportunity Gap.
• Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion with experience serving diverse or BIPOC communities.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and serve as a role model for youth.
• Reliable phone access and ability to travel to college campuses and meet in person.

What we offer

• Living stipend paid bi‑weekly ($250–$850) based on hourly commitment.
