Member of Technical Staff, Full-Stack

About the role

Highlight is building a shared intelligence layer for the modern workforce. We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff, Full‑Stack to own and evolve our native desktop runtime, ensuring it is low‑latency, lightweight and highly reliable across macOS and Windows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain the native desktop runtime for macOS and Windows.
• Improve performance, stability and resource efficiency of native processes.
• Develop robust telemetry, diagnostics and monitoring to detect regressions and accelerate debugging.
• Collaborate with backend, ML and product teams to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Define and enforce best practices for native development, testing, release processes and cross‑platform compatibility.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on native desktop applications.
• Strong systems fundamentals and a passion for performance, reliability and observability.
• Hands‑on experience debugging OS‑specific edge cases on macOS and/or Windows.
• Data‑driven mindset with ability to measure impact of changes.
• Ownership mentality and ability to work autonomously in a lean, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Native desktop development on macOS and Windows.
• Experience with ASR reliability, OCR/accessibility latency and on‑device inference.
• Telemetry, diagnostics and observability tooling.
• Performance optimization, CPU/memory profiling and latency reduction.
• Integration with native operating‑system APIs.
