Melt Crew – Molten Metal Handling Specialist

About the role

The Melt Crew is responsible for safely handling molten metal at extremely high temperatures, supporting daily furnace operations, and maintaining related equipment such as ladles and refractory linings. The role involves preparing and pouring metal, performing routine repairs, and ensuring all work is conducted with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with liquid metal at temperatures exceeding 2800°F.
• Maintain and repair furnace components, including daily patches, repairs, and refractory relining.
• Prepare pouring ladles for daily use and pour metal into ladles.
• Follow supervisor directions, adhere to molten iron safety protocols, and assist with cleaning and maintaining furnaces and ladles.

Required profile

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply common‑sense judgment.
• Capability to identify imperfections and assess quality of repairs on iron holders and ladles.
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.
• Must obtain a tow motor license and successfully pass LOTO and confined‑space training.
