Medical Technologist – Laboratory Services

About the role

The Medical Technologist will perform patient and proficiency testing, ensuring accurate results through rigorous quality control, calibrations, maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute test procedures accurately and without error, correlating data and monitoring results for reasonableness.
• Assess specimen adequacy, reorder when necessary, and handle a wide range of patient ages.
• Maintain detailed records of proficiency testing, quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and preventive maintenance.
• Identify and resolve problems affecting test performance, notifying technical leadership as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance and QC functions within required time frames, taking corrective action for out‑of‑control situations.
• Complete routine and STAT tests promptly, adjusting schedules to meet fluctuating workload demands.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related clinical science field.
• MLS (ASCP), AMT, AAB or NCA certification required within one year of hire.
• Minimum of one year hospital laboratory experience.
• Ability to handle routine exposure to blood and body fluids (Category I) and meet physical work requirements.
