Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Chemistry (PRN)

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I specialized in Chemistry on a PRN (as‑needed) basis. This position supports the clinical chemistry laboratory by performing routine and specialized tests that contribute directly to patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and verify clinical chemistry assays on patient specimens following standard operating procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation to ensure accurate results.
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance activities, documenting findings and corrective actions.
• Interpret and report test results in a timely manner while adhering to regulatory and safety standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other laboratory staff to resolve testing issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
• Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent).
• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Flexibility to work variable PRN shifts, including evenings and weekends.
