Medical Director, Community Medicine

About the role

The ASPCA is looking for a Medical Director for its Community Veterinary Clinic, leading a mission-driven medical team that expands access to high-quality pet care. The role combines hands-on practice with management, with no sales pressure, revenue targets, on-call shifts, overnights or after-hours emergencies. It is an on-site position at one of three clinics (Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx) with Monday to Friday daytime hours only.

Key responsibilities

• Focus on medical leadership, preventive care and high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgery.
• Supervise a team of veterinarians and medical staff in the clinic.

Required profile

• Current New York State veterinary licensure, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of starting.
• Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
• 5 years of veterinary experience in small animal practice.
• 4 years of experience in people management, leadership, training or mentoring.
• 1 year of surgical experience; high-volume spay/neuter experience preferred; HQHVSN training is available for strong candidates.
• English required.

What we offer

• Target hiring range of $198,000-$210,000 annually, with a signing and retention bonus eligible.
• Flexible scheduling: four 8-hour days, five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days per week, with paid breaks.
