Medical Assistant – Oncology (Part‑Time) – St George

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Medical Assistant to join our Medical Oncology practice in St George. The role focuses on patient check‑out, order coordination and front‑desk support while maintaining a professional image and strong patient relations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient check‑out after provider visits, ensuring all orders and follow‑up instructions are addressed.
• Schedule follow‑up appointments, procedures and return visits per provider recommendations.
• Order diagnostic tests, labs and imaging as directed and coordinate with external facilities.
• Verify order completeness, accuracy and compliance with facility requirements.
• Serve as primary point of contact for patients via phone and electronic communication, answering calls and providing information.
• Assist patients with questions about appointments, test orders and care instructions.
• Track test orders, follow up on results and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Provide coverage for rooming Medical Assistant duties and assist with front‑desk check‑in as needed.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and certification.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced clinical environment while maintaining professionalism and HIPAA compliance.
• Willingness to be cross‑trained in multiple clinic roles.

Required skills

• Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.
• Accurate vital signs measurement (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight).
• Infection control procedures (PPE, hand hygiene, sharps disposal).
• Use of ophthalmoscope/otoscope, saturation monitor and thermometer.
• Injection administration.
• CPR certification.
