Mechanical V&V Engineer

About the role

Waabi is seeking a Mechanical V&V Engineer to lead verification and validation activities for autonomous vehicle hardware. You will work closely with design, systems, quality and software teams to ensure mechanical components meet rigorous performance and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute mechanical DVP&R plans, including vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental testing on prototypes and production‑intent hardware.
• Develop custom test fixtures, troubleshoot mechanical issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Manage compliance testing and certification against standards such as ISO 26262, UL 4600, SAE J1455, ISO 16750, and OEM requirements.
• Coordinate with external accredited labs for pre‑compliance and formal certification testing, maintaining detailed test reports and logs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical V&V, preferably in automotive or heavy‑vehicle environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of automotive DV/PV processes, PPAP, APQP, and relevant safety standards (ASTM B117, MIL‑STD‑810, etc.).
• Experience working with OEMs and Tier‑1/2 suppliers.
