Mechanical Maintenance Technician

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials headquartered in Canada, is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for its IKO Glass Fiber facility in Chester, South Carolina. The position is within the Maintenance department and is listed as full time.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and service mechanical systems, machinery and equipment.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to spot and fix potential problems.
• Perform mechanical repairs and replacements while following safety standards and regulations.
• Install, upgrade or modify mechanical systems and equipment as needed.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance, inspections and repairs, including work orders and equipment manuals.
• Diagnose mechanical problems, determine root causes and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and schematics.
• Work with engineers and supervisors on improvements and enhancements.
• Follow safety protocols such as lockout/tagout and comply with local, state and national mechanical codes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance preferred.
• Proven experience as a mechanical maintenance technician or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components and diagrams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and answer emergency calls when necessary.
• Minimal travel required; I-9 verification, background check and drug test required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations and safety protocols.
