Mechanical Engineering Technician Co‑op (Jan‑Jun 2027)

About the role

Philips is offering a six‑month co‑op opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate degree. The position is based at the Latham, NY site and runs from January to June 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, assembly, and testing of cryogenic systems and superconducting magnets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to cryogenic and superconducting equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop and implement design solutions.
• Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate prototype performance and reliability.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate measurements.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience in a laboratory setting, including setting up and executing test protocols.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in a lab environment.
• Experience with 3D modeling and other engineering tools.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
