Mechanical Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop, design, and troubleshoot mechanical systems for advanced semiconductor equipment. The role involves leading complex projects, creating tooling, and collaborating with suppliers to deliver innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and resolve difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Develop, design, and modify mechanical layouts, schematics, and drawings for challenging scopes.
• Perform engineering analysis and generate detailed test reports.
• Lead or execute projects, define key suppliers, and produce mechanical product specifications.
• Design and implement custom tooling, fixturing, and processes for handling, assembly, and disassembly of components.
• Specify, review, and maintain engineering documentation and standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex mechanical scopes.
• Experience leading projects and collaborating with suppliers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics and flow analysis.
• Sheet metal design and GD&T expertise.
• Material selection and manufacturing methods.
• Understanding of Design for Excellence principles.
