Mechanical Engineer – New College Graduate (Santa Clara)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and semiconductor equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who is a recent college graduate. The role will involve applying physics, mathematics and materials science to solve mechanical problems, design tooling and support product life‑cycle assembly.

Key responsibilities

• Design or modify mechanical layouts, schematics and drawings under general supervision.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying critical parts and subsystems.
• Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot moderate‑difficulty mechanical issues.
• Develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes.
• Enable handling, assembly and disassembly of parts throughout the product life cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BS/MS preferred).
• 2‑4 years of related experience or equivalent new‑graduate experience.
• Experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design and material selection.
• Familiarity with manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis and Design for Excellence principles.
