Mechanical Engineer – New College Graduate (Kalispell, MT)

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Applied Materials, you will apply your foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve mechanical problems and develop custom tooling for semiconductor equipment. You will work on the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of mechanical components and assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Define fluid system designs based on system‑level needs and process requirements.
• Design or modify mechanical engineering builds, layouts, schematics, and specifications, moving designs from CAD to implementation on semiconductor capital equipment.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying sources for critical parts and subsystems.
• Perform and document engineering test reports and generate alpha/gamma documentation for product releases.
• Conduct engineering analysis and troubleshoot moderate‑difficulty mechanical problems throughout the product life cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis, and Design for Excellence principles.
