About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV with robotics expertise to support the development of semiconductor equipment. The role involves designing, testing, and integrating mechanical and automation systems for wafer handling and material handling robots.

Key responsibilities

• Support automation systems engineering projects that combine electrical, mechanical, and software design.
• Perform systems engineering analyses and evaluate requirements for semiconductor equipment.
• Manage projects with software and mechanical scope, ensuring OEM robot vendors meet specifications, schedule, and cost.
• Conduct hardware and software testing, qualification of OEM‑supplied robots, and build physical test stands.
• Maintain quality and reliability throughout the product lifecycle and drive resolution of quality issues.
• Support system integration and troubleshoot automation modules in clean‑room manufacturing and application labs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7‑10 years of experience in robotics or automation systems engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in hardware testing, software testing, and root‑cause analysis.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer handling and material handling robots.
