Mechanical Engineer I – Hardware Development

About the role

WHOOP is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join its Hardware Advanced Development team. You will help turn innovative concepts into manufacturing‑ready products, working on early‑stage prototypes for wearables and consumer electronics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and test complex mechanical components that integrate microelectronics.
• Develop multiple design solutions for novel technical challenges and document specifications.
• Create and execute testing and validation plans using Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
• Partner with the Hardware Product Team to evaluate new technologies and assess NPI readiness.
• Operate in‑house prototyping tools such as 3D printers and CNC machines.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on new manufacturing methods and travel up to 10% to suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 0‑3 years of experience designing complex mechanical products, preferably for consumer electronics, wearables, or medical devices.
• Hands‑on experience with rapid prototyping tools and proof‑of‑concept model creation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
• Rapid prototyping tools (3D printers, CNC machines).
• Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis methods.
• Knowledge of high‑volume manufacturing processes.
