Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation and member of the Open Compute Project, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop server nodes, enclosures, racks and cabinets that meet EIA‑310‑D specifications and customer requirements. The role involves close collaboration with data‑center customers, internal engineering teams and global vendors to deliver high‑performance, energy-efficient hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design server nodes, enclosures, racks and cabinets according to EIA‑310‑D and specific customer requirements.
• Integrate third‑party components by working with domestic and foreign vendors throughout the product lifecycle, including prototypes and production builds.
• Analyze and validate thermal and environmental specifications, enhancing mechanical and electrical designs for power and thermal efficiency.
• Engage directly with top‑tier data‑center customers to understand and implement their requirements.
• Conduct concept reviews, report design updates and progress, and hold design reviews with the engineering team.
• Produce mechanical designs for sheet‑metal chassis, racks, miscellaneous parts, plastic air ducting and PCBs.
• Participate in the DVT process, review test results and collaborate with vendors and validation teams to adjust designs.
• Document bills of materials (BOMs) for all assemblies and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably with electronic enclosures.
• Proven ability to own and drive the design process from concept to production in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Pro/E and SolidWorks (or equivalent MCAD tools).
• Sheet‑metal, machined‑part and weldment design for electronic enclosures.
• Sheet‑metal forming and plastic molding expertise.
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as UL, NEC, FCC, CE, CCC.
• Design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
