Meat Cutter – Retail Meat Department

About the role

The Meat Cutter works in a retail meat department, preparing, packaging, and labeling meat products according to company standards. The role ensures product quality, safety, and proper presentation for customers while maintaining equipment and inventory control.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, pack, and label meat products following standard operating procedures.
• Store daily inventory in designated areas and manage product rotation, expiration dates, and removal of improperly wrapped items.
• Oversee usage, maintenance, and sanitation of cutting machines and other equipment.
• Store remaining meat in chillers for next‑day display and control fat content in ground meat.
• Maintain freezer upkeep, ensure correct pricing, and conduct daily and weekly physical inventory checks.
• Submit throw‑away items daily and handle special orders from members.
• Uphold health, safety, and hygiene standards in the meat department.

Required profile

• High School Diploma, GED or Trade School degree preferred.
• Minimum two years of meat‑cutting experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Fresh meat cutting experience and knowledge of meat cuts and product handling.
• Health and food‑handling certification preferred.
• Effective communication in Spanish and/or English (verbal and written).
• Strong customer‑service orientation.
