About the role
Provide technical leadership and operational excellence to manufacturing, ensuring safe execution while meeting engineering, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Serve as a subject‑matter expert in welding, fabrication, and industrial processes, driving LEAN transformation at a Houston plant.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and operational excellence for manufacturing, ensuring safe execution while meeting engineering, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Serve as SME for structural welding, fabrication, and integrated production systems, partnering with design engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM).
- Lead root‑cause analysis of production issues, review and approve ECO/ECR changes, and drive cost‑reduction and labor‑efficiency initiatives.
- Deploy LEAN principles (6S, Standard Work, Visual Management) to optimize value streams, facility layout, and material flow for high‑efficiency operations.
- Design and implement tooling, jigs, fixtures, and material‑handling solutions, collaborating with controls and engineering teams on system performance and upgrades.
- Create and maintain process documentation, routing, work instructions, and conduct time studies to sustain standard work across the plant.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing, welding engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience with welding and machining, plus at least 2 years using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Proven experience applying LEAN principles, facility layout, material‑flow design, and process optimization.
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings, weld symbols, GD&T, WPS and PQR documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; basic PLC or automation logic knowledge is a plus.
