Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

About the role

Anthropic is building an Applied AI team to help leading organizations adopt its Claude model in safe, transformative ways. As the founding Manager of Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE), you will lead a new team that embeds with strategic customers to deliver production‑grade AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and retain a world‑class team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Set technical and operational standards for customer engagements and create repeatable playbooks.
• Partner with Engagement Managers, Sales, Product, and Engineering to shape delivery and influence product direction.
• Oversee resource allocation across multiple customer projects, balancing business priorities and team growth.
• Review architectures and code to ensure high‑quality, production‑ready solutions.
• Stay hands‑on for technical discovery, prototyping, and debugging when needed.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience building and scaling high‑performing engineering teams.
• Strong technical instincts and ability to evaluate complex AI architectures.
• Excellent communication skills for working directly with senior customers and cross‑functional partners.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a passion for creating processes from scratch.
