About the role

The University of Miami’s Department of Psychology is seeking a full‑time Manager, Business Operations in Coral Gables, FL. The role oversees all business and administrative matters, including budgeting, operations, program support, and personnel administration, while providing financial analysis and strategic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, implement, coordinate, plan and evaluate department business operations, including reporting, budget support, capital planning and process improvement.
• Develop and enforce the department’s annual budget in line with university policies.
• Conduct financial analysis, monitor monthly budget variances and identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Advance the strategic financial plan and advise senior management on execution.
• Formulate policies and guidelines to support the university’s mission.
• Oversee review, approval and reporting of all expenditures and financial transactions.
• Create and maintain support systems for cost‑effective supplies, equipment and information.
• Monitor contractual obligations to ensure alignment with budget and program goals.
• Evaluate internal controls and recommend enhancements for fiscal integrity and operational efficiency.
• Implement human‑resources actions such as hiring, terminations and salary adjustments, and prepare staff performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience.
• Operational management skills to optimize day‑to‑day processes.
• Organizational development ability to improve effectiveness and manage change.
• Knowledge of financial operations and management.
• Team‑leadership capability to build a cohesive, productive environment.
• Technical proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
