Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to perform proactive and reactive maintenance on industrial mechanical and electrical systems at our state-of-the-art pet-care manufacturing plant in Batavia, Ohio. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing and optimizing production equipment while collaborating with production, engineering and other maintenance personnel. After a 12-week training period, the schedule transitions to a 2-2-3 night shift.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to maintain equipment and solve technical problems.
• Model safety, train others and champion a safety-first environment.
• Execute Planned Maintenance (PM) activities to prevent failures.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems including motors, conveyors, bearings, gears, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics and automation.
• Perform root-cause analysis to reduce unplanned stoppages.
• Use mechanical/electrical tools, diagnostic meters, diagrams, schematics, CMMS and other digital tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform basic rigging, mechanical practices and welding in an industrial setting.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex mechanical equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, military or related environment.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting of motors, conveyors, bearings, gears, sprockets and valves.
• Electrical troubleshooting of automation, hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
• Use of diagnostic meters and mechanical/electrical tools.
• Reading mechanical diagrams, schematics and CMMS.
• Basic rigging and welding skills.
