Maintenance Technician I – Building Engineer (Downtown LA)

About the role
Sentral is looking for a Maintenance Technician I to join its downtown Los Angeles community. The role focuses on fixing and maintaining mechanical equipment, building systems, and machines, covering plumbing, painting, flooring, electrical, and HVAC tasks. Ideal candidates show a can‑do attitude, growth mindset, and strong ownership.
Key responsibilities
- Prioritize strong customer service through direct contact with residents and guests.
- Perform routine building maintenance, including painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC system upkeep.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections as scheduled.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, repair machines, equipment, or structures, and clean interior and exterior areas.
- Maintain compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Track inventory of supplies and equipment, reporting needs to the supervisor.
- Coordinate with contracted vendors and respond to emergency maintenance calls.
- Be available for on‑call rotations and work outside regular hours as needed.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED; proven maintenance experience or related technical college degree.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, disassemble equipment, and read blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
- Strong organizational, follow‑up, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- CPO and HVAC certifications are required; willingness to work weekends and on‑call schedules.
