Maintenance Repair Technician – General Tech

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a Maintenance Repair Technician to perform general maintenance and repair across its medical, educational, and research facilities. The role involves responding to work orders, conducting preventative maintenance, and addressing emergency facility issues to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and students.

Key responsibilities

• Drive to various campus locations and work sites to complete maintenance tasks.
• Replace ceiling tiles, repair furniture, install TV brackets, bulletin boards, file holders, and pictures.
• Perform minor drywall repair, painting, roof patchwork, and flooring repair or replacement.
• Repair or replace plumbing components such as flush valves, sinks, faucets, p‑traps, and water supplies; clear clogs in urinals, sinks, toilets, and sewer lines.
• Change belts, filters, air registers; reset breakers and replace electrical components including receptacles, light switches, cover plates, bulbs, fixtures, and ballasts.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with codes and document all work in the Engineering & Operations work‑order system.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in general maintenance or repair.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on the motor vehicle record.
• Legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Required skills

• Basic computer, tablet, or smartphone proficiency (novice level) for work‑order entry.
• Valid driver’s license (≤12 points) for campus travel.
