Maintenance Mechanic I

About the role

3M is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to join its Haverhill, MA production facility. You will work safely and efficiently on a variety of equipment, supporting continuous operations and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment, material handling systems, safety devices, and facility utilities.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and align mechanical components such as bearings, gearboxes, motors, couplings, conveyors, and drive systems.
• Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, pumps, and distribution components.
• Diagnose and repair PLCs, sensors, and related automation equipment.
• Troubleshoot and replace electrical components like contactors, relays, motor starters, circuit breakers, transformers, solenoids, switches, and AC/DC motors.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED (required); Associate/Technical degree or Journeyman certificate is a plus.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment (3 years preferred).
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Preventive maintenance procedures.
• Mechanical component repair (bearings, gearboxes, transmissions, motors, couplings, clutches, brakes, drive systems, conveyor belts).
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
• PLC programming and sensor troubleshooting.
• Electrical component repair (contactors, relays, motor starters, circuit breakers, fuses, transformers, solenoids, switches, transducers, power supplies, AC/DC motors).
