Maintenance and Damage Manager

About the role

Avis Budget is looking for a Maintenance and Damage Manager for its fleet services at Hilo International Airport. The role supports the SC City Manager in servicing, vehicle damage repair and in-fleeting or de-fleeting rental vehicles, aiming to maximize fleet utilization and profitability for the district.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and communicate operating plans that direct and control maintenance, repair and reconditioning of fleet vehicles, and the in-fleeting of new and used vehicles and de-fleeting to sale, auction or other channels.
• Manage team performance against business goals, tracking KPIs such as technician productivity, percent out of service, overdue idle cars, vendor cycle time, days to deletion and venue quality.
• Forecast, budget and manage financial drivers such as spend per day, warranty recovery, cost per estimate and cost per deletion.
• Coordinate damage appraisals and repairs, including documentation and ordering of parts, tools and supplies.
• Oversee vendor relationships, workload assignment and service levels, and partner with fleet owners, district/city managers and external partners to prioritize work.
• Oversee bus repair and maintenance at bus locations.
• Manage the employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, training, recognition, performance management and employee relations, while maintaining a safe work environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; 2-4 year college degree preferred (or equivalent education, training or experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience of employees in a related field such as rental cars, automotive shops or service-oriented fields.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, nights or weekends, and to lift 50 pounds and oversee multiple work areas.
• Regular on-site presence; the position cannot be performed remotely.

The annual starting salary is between $66,000, depending on geography, market, skills, education and experience.
