Mainframe Architect – Texas

About the role

The Mainframe Architect will work within Infosys' Engineering unit to design and deliver scalable, secure mainframe solutions for telecom OSS/BSS clients. You will engage directly with customers, translate business needs into technical architecture, and drive the adoption of modern integration and automation practices.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in customer discussions to gather and analyze system requirements for performance, security and scalability.
• Provide suggestions on solution architecture, contribute to technology framework development, support enterprise architecture definition, and drive design creation.
• Identify suitable technologies and tools, perform comparative analysis aligned with client business requirements, and recommend optimal architectural solutions.
• Develop integration strategies based on proof‑of‑concept validation of proposed solutions.
• Ensure smooth transition through knowledge transfer, adherence to quality standards, and contribution to build and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with development teams to resolve complex technical issues during build, deployment and support phases.
• Analyze system performance of implemented architectural solutions and identify potential risks.
• Create artifacts of architectural frameworks and technical solutions to enrich the team’s knowledge repository.

Required profile

• Ability to analyse, design and develop scalable and secure architectures.
• Strong assessment skills for multiple technologies, tools and frameworks to recommend optimal solutions.
• Understanding of integration methodologies, proof‑of‑concept validation and deployment strategies.
• Experience working with telecom OSS/BSS environments and mainframe platforms.
