Machinist – Precision Manufacturing for Autonomous Vessels

About the role
Saronic Technologies is seeking a skilled Machinist to support the production, prototyping, and sustainment of autonomous vessel programs. You will fabricate precision components, tooling, and fixtures that enable rapid shipyard and manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, drill presses, saws).
- Manufacture precision parts, fixtures, and production hardware from engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Support prototype development, production improvements, and rapid design iterations.
- Machine a variety of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, composites, and plastics.
- Inspect finished components with calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Assist engineers with manufacturability reviews and fabrication planning.
- Provide rapid fabrication and repair for vessel integration, commissioning, and field operations.
- Maintain tooling, work‑holding equipment, and shop organization.
- Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and throughput.
Required profile
- High school diploma, GED, technical school certification, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of machining experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, maritime, or industrial settings.
- Proficiency with manual mills, lathes, and CNC equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Capability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
