Lineman Foreman – Seasonal Antarctic Contract

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Lineman Foreman for a seasonal contract supporting the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program under the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). The foreman supervises the Facilities Line Shop and linemen and performs electrical distribution maintenance or construction work, under the supervision of the Assistant Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, according to the ASC schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the line shop and linemen, and perform hands-on installation of branch circuits, power distribution wiring, electrical equipment, fixtures and conduit in line with the NESC and NEC
• Install and maintain overhead electrical lines up to 4160 volts, and diagnose, repair and maintain existing systems
• Follow the ASC Electrical Safety Program, respond to emergency calls and report hazards and code violations
• Document hours, tasking, materials and processes, advise the supervisor on progress and resource needs, and submit end-of-season evaluations
• Use design drawings, specifications and diagrams, follow SOPs, and track labor, material and maintenance data in computer applications
• Inspect worksites, ensure staff attend required training, give performance feedback and handle personnel matters with HR
• Order resupply materials, approve timesheets and work orders, and occasionally help other trades or departments
• Deploy to remote research facilities (McMurdo only) and take part in station community programs

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medium to high voltage electrical license or equivalent
• At least six years of experience in the lineman trade, including two years in a lead or supervisory position
• US citizenship required to obtain facility credentials at the work location
• Medical, dental, drug screening and federal background checks completed
• Ability to lift heavy loads, climb in and out of equipment and work outdoors in extreme cold

Required skills

• Experience with 4160 volt systems or higher
• Knowledge of the NESC and NEC grounding and bonding requirements
• Preferred: commercial driver's license, Microsoft Office, and commercial or industrial experience
