Licensed Social Worker – State of Georgia

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Licensed Social Worker to join the team at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur. In this position you will provide psycho‑social support to patients, families, and vulnerable populations dealing with chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses and developmental disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Act as client advocate to coordinate services and resolve crises.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to help clients adjust and recover.
• Identify environmental barriers to patient progress through interviews and record reviews.
• Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress against treatment goals.
• Organize support groups and counsel family members.
• Perform clinical assessments of behavioral health needs.
• Provide case management and refer clients to community resources such as financial assistance, legal aid, housing, and job placement.
• Train direct‑care staff on behavior‑modification techniques and treatment plans.

Required profile

• Current MSW, LMSW, or LCSW license.
• Experience delivering psycho‑social support to individuals or families facing health challenges.
• Strong advocacy skills and ability to coordinate multidisciplinary services.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of diagnostic criteria and impressions.
• Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques.
• Familiarity with individual and group therapy methods.
• Understanding of various therapeutic models and case‑management processes.
