Licensed Nursing Assistant – Night Shift (PCU)

About the role

The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) works under the supervision of the Clinical Director and RN to provide direct patient care during night shifts in the PCU. The role supports the care plan, promotes patient safety, and enhances the patient experience in accordance with KHI’s vision of high‑quality, compassionate health services.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to daily living and safety needs of assigned patients.
• Assist RNs with patient care activities and non‑professional services.
• Obtain and record vital signs, heights, and weights per policy.
• Provide personal hygiene, ensure patient comfort, and maintain a safe, tidy environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients of all ages using appropriate therapies.
• Report changes in patient condition, out‑of‑range values, and concerns to nursing staff.
• Perform blood glucose checks, discontinue urinary catheters and peripheral IVs, and conduct skin‑care interventions as permitted.
• Operate video monitoring equipment, document observations, and alert staff to behavioral changes.
• Complete documentation accurately and timely, including intake/output and shift reports.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant certification program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current valid Arizona LNA license.
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• For Home Health/Hospice: Level 1 fingerprint clearance, valid Arizona driver’s license with clean record, and food‑handler card.
• Ability to assist movement of adult patients up to 300 lb and perform physical tasks required for the shift.
